Although Savagnin was once upon a time grown in the region, it has all but fallen into extinction. The Seckingers planted their vineyard from Jura clones and are also influenced by Jura in the winemaking - not filling the barrels fully during fermentation to allow oxidation, with the wine protected by a layer of yeast called flor, like in sherry production.
