I’m Bastian, and Trinkfluss Wines is the realisation of a long-held dream. After 16 years in the wine trade, I kept coming back to the same question: Where are all the dynamic, characterful wines from Germany and Austria?
These countries are home to some of the most electric, food-friendly and downright delicious wines anywhere, yet apart from a few exceptions they often feel overlooked or treated as an afterthought. I started Trinkfluss Wines to change that and make them accessible.
Though our heart will always be in Germany and Austria, wine is all about discovery. That’s why our shelves also feature brilliant bottles from Sicily, Oregon, Greece, South Africa and beyond - all united by the same Trinkfluss philosophy.
In August 2025, Trinkfluss Wines found its home in Godalming’s iconic Church Street. With a cosy Bottle Shop & Wine Bar, it is here where we host regular wine tastings and share stories from winemakers who inspire us. Whether you’re popping in for a quick glass or stocking up for the weekend, Trinkfluss is here to make wine feel like part of everyday life.
What Does “Trinkfluss” Mean?
Trinkfluss is one of those German words that doesn’t really translate well. Think of it as the “flow” of drinking. When a wine is so easy, so moreish, that the glass just seems to empty itself. No fuss. Just pure enjoyment.
That’s what we look for in all our wines from across the globe: wines with flow. Fresh, lively, unpretentious bottles you actually want to drink and not just swirl, sniff and analyse. If it makes you want another glass, it’s got Trinkfluss. Plain and simple!
It’s More Than a Shop — It’s a Circle of Trinkfreunde
Trinkfreunde means “drinking friends” and that’s what we’re building here. Not another wine club. Not mailing list number 1001. A real community!
We don't participate in score-chasing, no hunting down bottles just because they’ve bagged the biggest, flashiest medals to slap on the front label. Far from it. We’re here for wines with character and soul from genuine people who grow them, often in places so rural and steep you can’t help but wonder: why on earth would anyone farm here?
These are the kind of wines you actually want to drink and can't wait bring over for dinner to share with family and friends. From Germany and Austria to France, Greece, South Africa, Australia and beyond, our range keeps growing but our focus stays the same: fun and delicious wines with real character.
