This Bourgogne Blanc is tremendously representative of the Puligny style (where most of the fruit is from, with a smaller proportion from Chassagne) and of the Bachelet brothers' trademark fruit and mineral-forward winemaking.

Fresh and vibrant yellow orchard fruit gives way to focused, linear minerality and chalky, citrus rind pithiness. It is superbly composed and refined, and very sophisticated for a Bourgogne Blanc at this price level.

Since their first vintage in 2005, the Bachelet brothers, Marc and Alexandre, have earned a reputation as two of the most talented white Burgundy producers out there.

They have at their disposal some of the finest vineyards in the Côte de Beaune, including St. Aubin En Remilly, the top sites in Maranges, Puligny 1er Cru Folatières, Puligny 1er Cru Referts, Batard Montrachet, Chassagne Montrachet, and some of the best parcels in Santenay.

While Maranges, the southernmost appellation in the Côte de Beaune, might not be as famous as others, it is gaining increasing attention for offering exceptional value. Neil Martin said, "My budget would be invested in the outstanding Maranges premier crus such as Fussière and Clos de la Boutière that I strongly suspect will represent some of the best values over the entire of the Côte d’Or".

The brothers are propelled by their desire to work with nature rather than against it, resulting in labour-intensive choices like ploughing, carefully monitoring vine health, shunning herbicides and carrying out strict de-budding to limit yields, and of course hand picking all grapes at optimum ripeness.

They avoid oak impact on the flavour profile of the wines and from their Bourgogne to Batard these are some of Burgundy's most brilliant wines from two of its most exciting young winemakers.
