From the Grillo grape, this gorgeous aromatic and fresh white is the flagship wine of one of Sicily's most respected natural winemakers, Alessandro Viola. With notes of pear, citrus, mediterranean herbs and florals, plus that addictively salty finish, it has been described as "smashable" "extremely drinkable" and "dangerously delicious". We would of course add to that "mega Trinkfluss".

Alessandro Viola grew up in Alcamo, on the north coast of Sicily, and followed his father into winemaking, after completing an oenology and viticulture degree and gaining experience in Piedmont and Mount Etna.

He returned to take over the 12 hectares of family vineyards, high up on the slopes of Mount Bonifato, which towers behind Alcamo, and in the valley further inland.

In the 1990s, when Sicily was enjoying commercial success with its wines but leaning more and more towards high production techniques, Alessandro leaned firmly in the other direction, embracing organic viticulture and low intervention winemaking. His wines are testament to letting nature take its course.
