Andreas Tscheppe, 'Blaue Libelle' Sauvignon Blanc 2023

The Blaue Libelle aka Blue Dragonfly from Andreas Tscheppe is a personal favourite and one that makes you fall in love with Sauvignon Blanc all over again. So if you are disillusioned by the glut of same old Sauvignon Blanc and are looking for a bright shining light- this is it. 

Fermented and aged in a mixture of 80% used barrel and 20% new the wine spends 18-24 months on its lees. Super complex and layered, this wine isn't in any hurry and though it is very delicious now- another 3-5 years of ageing will will be handsomely rewarded. 

Styria (Steiermark in German) is a treasure trove of phenomenal and unique Sauvignon Blancs and the Blue Dragonfly from Tscheppe is as great as it gets. With their minimal intervention and natural winemaking approach Andreas & Elisabeth Tscheppe are at the forefront of crafting multidimensional and terroir driven wines in the region. Unfortunately these wines are very sought after and each vintage is tightly allocated so once they are gone they are gone.
