With its distinctive yellow label and provocative name, this is a rosé that stands out from the crowd, yet is so distinctively and charmingly Austrian. Cheeky more than really bad. Made from 85% Grüner Veltliner and 15% Zweigelt it is fun, peppery, with a bit of spice, plenty of fruit and elegant structure. Also very "brav" for the environment: everything is organic and biodynamic. Nothing to fear from the Austrian Wine Mafia then...

The Austrian Wine Mafia is a collaboration of three winemakers in Kamptal - siblings Magdalena und Lorenz Haas-Allram and Matthias Warnung. Their goal is to support the community between winegrowers, bringing different philosophies together to produce something greater than the sum of the parts.

Instead of being tied to labels like natural wine and classic wine society, they say: “We use the positive aspects of both approaches and create wines to bring people together."

It is the friendliest interpretation of Mafia possible - slightly antiauthoritarian but really all about family and cooperation. In the future they want to hand over the brand to people who support the same idea.

They use organic practices and promote biodiversity in all their vineyards but have decided not to apply to be organic certified as they don´t want to be guided by political restrictions. They don´t use any kind of herbicide, pesticide or chemical fertilizers and apply sustainable practices, using organic compost to ensure a healthy soil and allow wildflowers to grow between the rows. The aim is to farm in natural equilibrium and to have healthy grapes.

The wines are produced with low interventions and with indigenous yeast and at the end of the winemaking process they only add minimal amount of sulphur.
