Birgit Eichinger's Strass Gruner Veltliner is exemplarily delicious and fresh, a perfect "any occasion" wine that we happily recommend as a classic example of Austria's most celebrated grape variety. From the village of Strass in Kamptal, Lower Austria, where Gruner Veltliner reigns supreme, this is elegant, super approachable and very versatile. Expect juicy and zippy citrus and stone fruit, with a trademark peppery spice intensity and verve, great balanced acidity and a lovely long, mineral, moreish finish. This is top notch and totally overdelivers on the price tag.

Weingut Birgit Eichinger is run by mother and daughter duo Birgit and Gloria. Birgit founded the winery in 1992 and has built it up from originally 3.5 hectares to today’s 16 hectares of prime vineyard land around the village of Strass. Among their six prime single vineyards, three are classified “Grand Cru” or "Erste Lage" sites: Rieds Gaisberg, Lamm and Heiligenstein.

The winery ranks among the most highly awarded in Austria and the house style is elegant, richly textured and pure – an exemplary reflection of this region’s potential for producing top of the class white wines from the country’s most celebrated variety, Grüner Veltliner, as well as gorgeous Riesling.
