The 2018 vintage from Franc Cardinal feels like Bordeaux exhaling. Generous and open but never heavy, it’s a wine that shows confidence without puffing its chest.
Merlot leads the blend, filling the glass with ripe berries and soft plum. Cabernet Franc adds lift and spice while a touch of Malbec brings depth and a darker edge. The oak regime is kept minimal here and like perfect seasoning kept just right. The tannins are polished and fine but there is also plenty of freshness here too, a reminder that this estate values balance over brute force.
It’s the kind of Bordeaux you wish there'd be more of out there- graceful, thoughtful, and approachable. A great combo with Sunday Roast, some charred vegetables and nothing more than good company.
