Bandol is often associated with heady reds and Provençal roses, but the whites of the region, though rare, can be absolute stunners. Especially those of Chateau Sainte Anne, an iconic family domaine who have been champions of natural winemaking for generations and were among the first to defy the pressure of chemical agriculture in the 1970s. With the domaine's exceptional location between three 'massifs', it has a cool microclimate, making for long, slow ripening, and incredible freshness considering the Mediterranean location. It is a lovely ripe meets savoury white from Clairette and Ugni Blanc, with herbaceous and spicy notes, pear skin, subtle floral notes and a saline finish. The white wine makes up just 5% of the estate's production, but has become cultishly followed thanks to its freshness and complexity.

Jean-Baptiste Dutheil is the fifth generation winemaker at the helm of the historic Château Sainte Anne in Bandol. It was established by an order of priests in the 16th Century, and their original cellars still exist today.

The Dutheil family were pioneers in shunning chemical agriculture in the 1970s and have been ardently practicing organic viticulture and low-intervention winemaking since. Jean-Baptiste's parents, François and Françoise Dutheil, worked closely with legendary winemakers such as Marcel Lapierre, Pierre Overnoy and Thierry Puzela to establish l’Association des Vins Naturels A.V.N. in the early 1980s, contributing to its cult status as one of the original natural wine icons.

Their whites, though limited in production, have earned a cult following for their freshness and complexity. The wines are built to age gracefully, gaining savory, herbal, and saline complexity over time.
