You have everything you would expect here from a top producer's Grosses Gewächs Pinot Noir. Richness meets restraint, with ample black and red fruit, layered with subtle oak spice, black pepper, florals and stony graphite minerality that provides a backbone and firm foundation for long ageing potential. This is a very handsome Pinot Noir and a top example of Baden's growing reputation as as a premier Pinot Noir region, with its exceptional combination of chalk and volcanic soil, which is particularly pronounced in this Eichberg site, contributing to the wine's attractively robust character.

The Franz Keller winery, based in Baden in the Kaiserstuhl region near the French border, is unapologetically influenced by French "savoir-vivre". Founded by Franz Keller Senior—who brought inspiration from Bordeaux and Burgundy—the family business includes a winery, wine merchant, hotel, and Michelin-starred restaurant.

Since 2014, Friedrich Keller has refined the estate’s style toward elegance and his Pinot Noirs are now considered among Germany’s finest. The philosophy is uncompromising: organic practices, strict yield reduction, early harvesting, and gentle, gravity-led winemaking all aim to produce wines defined by restraint, balance, minerality, and character.
