Pranzegg, Elysion 2023

Elysion from Pranzegg feels like a secret whispered from the mountains - a Pinot Bianco born on a tiny half-hectare plot, perched 900 metres above sea level at the gateway to the Dolomites. Here, winter is never to harsh and summer never extreme.

Planted in 2018 on what was once an old meadow, the vineyard is farmed by family  friends of Martin and Marion Gojer. The name Elysion comes from the “Elysian Fields,” those mythical meadows of endless spring, which feels just right for a wine with such calm energy and quiet beauty.

Wildly fermented and left untouched for ten months on its lees in old barrels, it’s bottled without fining or filtration. A pure Alpine Wine that is alive and kicking. In the glass it opens up with what can only be described as a soft alpine smokiness, like crushed rocks after rain, then shifts into notes of apricot, blood orange, kumquat, and wild mountain herbs. With time, it becomes more and more expressive, balancing its creamy texture with a salty lift and that unmistakable mountain freshness.
