This white blend (predominantly Listan Blanco) really shows off what Tenerife is all about, transporting us to the volcanic island with its smoky reduction giving way to super saline, oyster shell mineral, citrus fresh, green apple, creamy bitterness. Utterly captivating, serious and elegant wine that seems to convey the essence of the vineyards in the glass.

Suertes del Marqués is one of the most exciting names in the Tenerife wine scene, which itself has become hugely dynamic of late, despite its centuries old history.

In 2016 Jonatan Garcia took over the winery from his father, Francisco García Lima, who had been selling grapes to local wineries since 1986 before he started producing wine commercially himself in 2006. He introduced organic, low-interventionist philosophies and was extremely influential to the new wave of Tenerife fine wine.

Suertes del Marques is located in the Valle de la Orotava DO on the north side of Tenerife. Its vineyards sit on steep volcanic slopes (400–700 m altitude) in a cooler, cloud-influenced climate that protects grapes from the intense sun.

The estate farms very old, phylloxera-free, ungrafted vines, some over 200 years old, trained using the traditional cordón trenzado method. Indigenous varieties such as Listán Negro, Listán Blanco, Malvasía Rosado, and Baboso Negro dominate the vineyards.

The winery practices organic farming and minimal-intervention winemaking, using native yeasts, neutral oak, whole clusters, and minimal filtration. Wines are often produced from specific vineyard parcels and emphasize freshness, purity, and strong volcanic minerality, reflecting the unique terroir of Tenerife.
