A pioneering wine from a pioneering wine family. Following a trip to Jura and tasting a variety of indigenous Trousseaus the Lett's were convinced this varietal could thrive in Oregon. So inspired by their visit they planted the Willamette Valley's first ever Trousseau in the hope it would find a home there.
This Eyrie Vineyard Trousseau is made from estate-grown, no-till organic grapes and transformed to juice by wild native yeast. It aged in neutral oak puncheons for 10 months as Jason wants the Trousseau to be the truest expression of itself. That’s why they have also chosen not to fine or filter this wine and to bottle it with moderate levels of sulphur.
The result is a red wine that has aromas of dark berries, loam, and baking spices. Acidity and smoothness are perfectly balanced on the palate, with evolving flavours of herbs and fruits such as blackberry, pomegranate and rhubarb. Light tannins combined with a precise, long finish suggest a promising ageability as is the case for all the Eyrie wines.
